Chief Master Sergeant Derrick M. Grames is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 53d Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He is responsible for the health, welfare, morale, and effective utilization of approximately 2,500 military and civilian personnel at 23 diverse locations throughout the United States. The wing is responsible for fighter, bomber, remotely piloted air vehicle and space operations operational testing and evaluation. Additionally, the wing performs tactics development in the areas of electronic warfare, armament, avionics, and weapons systems evaluation programs Combat Archer and Combat Hammer, as well as the electronic warfare aggressor program Combat Shield.

Chief Grames entered the Air Force in July 1990 as a Pavements Maintenance Specialist. As a Civil Engineer, he served two RED HORSE tours, then became a First Sergeant, supporting 11 units for over seven years. Additionally, he has been a Mission Support Group Superintendent in Korea and Alabama. His previous assignment was Superintendent, Business and Enterprise Systems, serving as the senior enlisted advisor to the Program Executive Officer for the effective utilization of more than 2,100 military and civilian employees at five bases. The organization acquires, operates, and sustains operational support information technology systems for the Air Force and Department of Defense with a portfolio valued at $1.025 billion. Other deployments include supporting the Continuous Bomber Presence (South Pacific), Operations DESERT SHIELD, DESERT STORM, NORTHERN WATCH, and ENDURING FREEDOM.
