Civilian aircraft crash

Eglin and Okaloosa County emergency crews responded to a civilian aircraft crash approximately two miles north of the installation’s runway in a densely wooded area on the Eglin Reservation Aug. 30. Following the initial investigation, officials have confirmed four fatalities. The original indication was one fatality based on the flight plan documentation filed in Toledo and physical evidence.

The accident occurred at approximately 10:35 a.m. The aircraft was a Beechcraft BE-60 that originated in Toledo, Ohio this morning.

Next of kin notification was conducted by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s office approximately 3:15 p.m today. Remains will be turned over to the District One Medical Examiner for Okaloosa County. The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct an investigation on the cause of the accident.
