The 96th Cyberspace Test Group’s Avionics Cyber Range facility construction was marked with a groundbreaking ceremony March 10 here.

The Air Force’s new 52,000 square-foot facility is designed to improve next generation cybersecurity operations and capabilities. The range mission is to conduct critical cybersecurity assessments, test and evaluation and training in high-tech environments.

"This building will significantly expand the 96th Cyberspace Test Group’s Avionics Cyber Range, enabling the multi-level security environments required to lead future cybersecurity and resiliency testing for Air Force and Department of Defense weapons and enterprise systems," said Col. Michael Dooley.

"This facility will further enable the merger of cyber and electronic warfare testing, integrating these capabilities to support future Joint All Domain Command and Control experimentation, test and evaluation, and large-force exercises," said Dooley.

"This new addition complements our Group’s unique capabilities – we are the principal Air Force organization for developmental testing of Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR), Cyber, and Electronic Warfare systems. We have had a key role in accomplishing the evaluations of major weapon systems for cyber vulnerabilities as called for by 2016 National Defense Authorization Act Section 1647. With this new facility, we will continue to advance our capabilities and effectiveness, evolving with the rapidly changing environment and threats to national security," said Dooley.
