An Airman's Attic Open House for Team Eglin leadership took place Sept. 24.

The open house celebrated the move to its new location, Bldg. 594, and enhanced awareness from a leadership perspective for Team Eglin's commanders, chiefs and first sergeants.

The Airman's Attic is designed to help defray the cost of setting up a household by providing some children's clothes, baby items, household items and furniture without cost to eligible active-duty military members here, including Army Rangers, Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal, and all other units supported by the base. Eligible members include E-5 and below, as well as any active-duty member in a time of need.

Guests were treated to refreshments and then toured the new facility, located in the former prison camp grounds.

"It is important that commanders, first sergeants and chiefs know what the Airman's Attic has to offer in order for them to support their members and families," said Col. Rick LoCastro, 96th Mission Support Group commander.

Bob White, Airman's Attic Volunteer Manager, said the Airman's Attic is one of the best examples of Team Eglin taking care of its own.

"Without the help of commanders, first sergeants, chiefs, and volunteers, the Airman's Attic wouldn't function as effectively as it does," he said.

Colonel LoCastro recognized contributions made to the Airman's Attic; in particular, the commissary and its manager, Irvin Wilson, who provided 100 cases of shampoo, numerous cases of diapers, and a monetary donation. He also mentioned that the Airman's Attic will once again host a Toys for Tots distribution targeted for Airman E-5 and below.

The Airman's Attic can be reached at 882-3616, Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
