Team Eglin has joined Web 2.0.  The official Eglin Air Force Base Twitter account is up and running live.  The goal of the Team Eglin account will be to provide real-time, two-way communication with the public regarding critical information, updates and messages.  Possible examples include sending out safety reminders during hurricane conditions, announcing a road closure or linking to an article. The newly created Eglin Energy Management Center began a contest between three of Eglin's largest buildings to see which one could conserve the most energy for a month, beginning Feb. 11.  The 53rd Wing and the 308th Armament Systems Wing, occupiers of the identical six-floor buildings, are in a "heated" competition to see how they can reduce energy cost and consumption. Proven: less = more.That was the energy goal for Eglin's Energy Management Center's "How low can you go" campaign to discover how much the base could conserve during the February three-day weekend.Now the results are in and the base saved more than 90,000 kilowatts based on the same usage from 2009.
