Default Air Force Logo Traffic safety vigilance is constant
Operating a vehicle seems like a simple thing to do. You just get in, turn the key and put it in drive. But it is not that simple and people are getting injured and killed every day. As you drive the local roads you see special markers and memorials where someone's life tragically ended - on the same roads you are driving. They started out on

Default Air Force Logo Airmen of destiny
The Dalai Lama told Bill Murray's character in the movie Caddyshack, that he would receive total enlightenment on his death bed ... so he's got that going for him, which is nice. These days lots of celebrities are into "spirituality," but many can't seem to define it (or stick with a particular brand). I won't bore you with the details of my faith,

Default Air Force Logo Commander proud of team effort during trying times
I am often asked what occupies most of my time as an installation commander. Frankly, the answer varies and normally tracks with the hottest issues of the period. Right now, and for the last several months, the budget and fiscal constraints have been a key focus area of mine. Not surprisingly, our elected officials are dealing with similar

In this historic photo, a four-ship of F-15 Eagles, deployed from Eglin, fly over the Persian Gulf. Throughout the 90s, then-named 33rd Tactical Fighter Wing flew combat air patrol and high value airborne asset protection missions as part of Operations DESERT STORM and SOUTHERN WATCH. Known for the most combat kills, the wing "Nomads" ended the operational missions with 16 aerial victories. Today, the wing continues its air dominance by training pilots and maintainers for the military's future generation as DoD's Integrated Training Center for the F-35. If I were at my desk 20 years ago, I'd be recording the most victorious aerial combat my unit engaged in as the dog fights set fire through the clouds thousands of miles away.Instead, I reminisce with heroic pilots of yesteryear who have come back to the 33rd Fighter Wing for Nomad reunions, discussing the successful enemy MiG kills play-by-play

On Jan. 1, AFMC will begin our "Year of the Community College of the Air Force" campaign. John Buchan, a 20th century writer and politician, once said, "The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people, but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already." Therefore, I challenge each of you to reap the benefits of formal education during
