Wild turkeys

A group of approximately 13 wild turkeys were spotted along Eglin Boulevard March 7 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Spring brings these normally reclusive birds out into the open to feed on new vegetative growth and insects. The Eglin reservation has a sizable wild turkey population including a growing number on the main base. For more information on wild turkeys or the upcoming turkey seasons, call Jackson Guard at 882-4165 or 4166. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
