Chief Master Sergeant John W. Milam, Jr., is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 53d Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. He is responsible for the health, welfare, morale, and effective utilization of approximately 2,200 military and civilian personnel at 22 diverse locations in the United States. The wing is responsible for fighter, remotely piloted air vehicle and bomber operational testing and evaluation, and evaluation and tactics development in the areas of electronic warfare, armament, avionics and weapons systems evaluation programs Combat Archer and Combat hammer, as well as the electronic warfare aggressor program Combat Shield.
Chief Milam entered the Air Force in 1984 and has held various positions in aircraft maintenance, including flight-line expediter, lead production superintendent, helicopter maintenance unit superintendent, squadron maintenance superintendent, and as an operations group superintendent. His assignments include bases in New Mexico, California, and Georgia. Chief Milam also served overseas in the Philippines, Korea, and Japan, and deployed in support of Operations SOUTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM.
