CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT ROBERT W. NEWMAN
Chief Newman is the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 33d Fighter Wing, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The wing was re-designated under the Air Education and Training Command on 1 October, 2009. Chief Newman provides enlisted leadership to support the F-535 A/B/C (Joint Strike Fighter) flying training for the Marine Corps, the Navy, the Air Force and eight coalition partners. Initially, 59 aircraft and three flying squadrons, one for each service/aircraft variant, will be established at Eglin Air Force Base. The unique nature of this combined and joint fighter wing accommodates service specific requirements in a non-traditional Air Force Fighter Wing structure.
Chief Newman entered the Air Force in 1984. His background includes various positions in aircraft maintenance, and he also served as an acting First Sergeant in an Operational Training Squadron. His assignments include bases in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas, and he also served overseas in the Republic of the Philippines.
