The facility itself is phenomenal boasting over 1.1million square feet and over 500 acres of training area. To give you a comparison of what we have to what we had back at Fort Bragg; our total square footage of our Group Headquarters back at Fort Bragg was approximately 20K square feet compared to today's Group Headquarters which boasts an enormous total square footage of over 68K square feet.
To sum it up in a more simplistic manner, we have three times as much square footage here as we did back at Fort Bragg. And we are not forced to forecast our training requirements for land with a multitude of other tenant units.
Cantonment: The cantonment site is approximately 1 million square feet on a 350 acre site costing approximately $255 million, consisting of 43 facilities with a growth of six buildings and 150 acres over the next 3 years. (Total estimated cost of over $500 million)
Backyard Range Complex: The backyard range complex is 1 mile to the west, consisting of 7 ranges, with growth of several small projects over the next year.
Distant Range Complex: The distant range complex is 20 miles southeast of the cantonment site, consisting of 5 ranges, with a growth of three ranges over the next five years.
Access Control Point: This facility has three lanes of inbound traffic and one outbound lane. It has hydraulically operated pop-up barriers and a visitor's center.
Multi-purpose Canine Facility: 9,944 sf. This facility has room for 14 dogs, team room for handlers, complete surgery and dental suite with a food preparation area. Outside, there is a fenced dog run and space for the portable kennel.
Battalion Operations Facilities: 120,000 sf each. These facilities house the entire battalion under one roof. The back half of the buildings consist of the three line companies and the HSC each with their own arms room.
FRIES Tower: This tower will be 40 feet high and train Soldiers on the proper techniques for exiting MH-47/MH-60 and MH-6 helicopters using movable FRIES bars. It will also have a side of the tower dedicated to rappelling and climbing.
Indoor Baffle Range: 22,590 sf. This facility has 13 lanes, 25m in length and Soldiers can shoot up to 7.62 mm rounds. It has a classroom, control room, an air shower for removal of lead dust from Soldiers and a bullet trap to process all lead into removal containers.
Maritime Operations Facility: 17,132 sf. This facility has indoor storage for 18 x kayaks and 56 x Zodiacs, a maintenance bay, a repair bay (gluing), an open circuit bay and a closed circuit bay as well as a locker room.
Airborne Mock-up Trainers: This complex consists of a C-17/C-130/CASA-212 mock-up trainer as well as a Parachute Landing Fall pit and an open space for sustained trained.
Group Support Battalion HQ: 70,895 sf. This facility houses the General Support Battalion (GSB) HQ and staff as well as the GSC and GSSC. It has three large classrooms for Battalion instruction and three classrooms specifically for Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat (SFAUC) instruction.
Group Support Battalion Motorpool Complex: 45,784 sf. The main facility has four vehicle maintenance bays and one small engine repair bay as well as a carpenter shop, small arms repair area and all the associated administrative areas.
Interim Troop Medical Clinic: 3,021 sf. This facility has three exam rooms, a treatment room and a laboratory.
Barracks: 35,220 sf. These barracks will have 25 suites on the top floor (housing 50 Soldiers <E-5) and 23 suites on the bottom floor (housing 15 Soldiers E-5 and 16 Soldiers <E-5). Total Soldiers per barracks is 81. Total Soldiers in all three barracks is 243. Soldiers will have their mail delivered directly to their individual mailbox in the barracks.
Dining Facility: 22,488 sf. This facility has two serving lines; it seats 314 Soldiers inside and 84 outside.
Combat Readiness Training Facility: (Gym) 43,697 sf. It has a combined weight/cardio room, a multi-purpose combatives/aerobics/Cross-Fit rooms, a physical therapy treatment room with a rehabilitation room, a racquetball court, a 34-foot climbing wall consisting of high performance and real rock climbing surface, a basketball court, a THOR3 training area, a 1/10 mile banked track and men/women's locker rooms each with saunas.
Group Headquarters: 68,429 sf. This facility houses the entire Group staff.
Memorial Wall and Parade Field: Funded with Donations. This memorial wall will encompass the existing wall with wingtip extensions added near the center point. The names of the fallen Soldiers of 7th Special Forces will be placed on the inner wall.
Backyard Range Complex: Seven ranges are the hand grenade qualification course, a breach facility (up to 15 lbs), a shoot house, the shotgun assault course, a 100 m flat range, a 25 m flat range and the Urban Assault Course. Future projects will be a helicopter landing zone, an obstacle course and a C-130 trainer.
Distant Range Complex: Five ranges under construction are the Mk-19/M-203/Mortar Range, a 25 m flat range, the Qualification Training Range (consisting of 9mm pistol range, M4/M16 rifle range, M240/M249 range and an M2 .50 cal range), a light demolition range and lastly an anti-armor tracking range.
