The Air Force Armament Museum (AFAM) is the only museum in the world dedicated to the collection, preservation and exhibition of artifacts and memoriabilia associated with Air Force Armament and its platforms of delivery.
Exhibited Aircraft:
Four aircraft are in the building, each representing a specific war era: the P-51 Mustang and the P-47 (World War II); the F-80 Shooting Star (Korean War); and the F-105 Thunderchief (Vietnam War). Many more aircraft are outside including the SR-71A Blackbird and a Soviet MIG-21.
Exhibited Armament:
In addition to the aircraft the museum has on exhibit, there are a wide variety of bombs, missiles and rockets including the AMRAAM and GBU-28 bunker buster developed for use during Desert Storm. Also on display is the MOAB or Mother of All Bombs -- the world's largest conventional weapon.
Admission is FREE.
Hours of Operation:
Open Mon-Sat from 9:30am to 4:30 p.m.
Closed on federal holidays.
Outdoor air park, containing 25 aircraft, open to the public during daylight hours.
Tours are self-guided.
