Operation Hero

Captain America shields a little deployer during Operation Hero April 12 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Nearly 400 adults and children participated in the program this year, which served as a way to help children understand the military and the deployment process their parents have or could face. The kids went through a deployment line to get their uniforms, dog tags and shots before they were briefed by their commander and shipped off to a deployed location. There, they encountered military demonstrations, equipment and obstacle courses. (U.S. Air Force photo/Samuel King Jr.)
