2013 AFAF campaign in full swing
Chief Master Sgt. Marcus Snoddy, the 96th Test Wing command chief, completes the Air Force Assistance Fund forms at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. The AFAF campaign supports four charities dedicated to caring for Airmen from induction through retirement and beyond. These charities include the Air Force Aid Society, General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, the Air Force Village and the Air Force Enlisted Village. The deadline to donate for this year's campaign is May 3. The overall fundraising goal for Eglin is $118,000. Jansson is new PEO for Weapons
Brig. Gen. Scott Jansson, right, accepts the position of Air Force Program Executive Officer for Weapons from Lt. Gen. C.D. Kenneth Merchant, the former PEO, will transfer to the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C., to become the director of global reach programs. Jansson comes to Eglin after serving almost two years as the commander of Defense Logistic Agency Aviation, a field activity of the DLA. headquartered in Richmond, Va. The PEO will work at the Armament Directorate here, a unit who reports to the Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition, Washington, D.C. and AFLCMC. Col. Carole Farley of the 96th Medical Group, was awarded the Bronze Star March 12 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. She was honored for meritorious service as the
commander while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom with the 455th
Expeditionary Medical Operations Squadron in Afghanistan. According to the medal write-up, as the Craig Joint Theater Hospital's 455th EMOS commander, Farley's outstanding performance, expertise and dedication to duty greatly contributed to the overall success of the unit's mission. Her leadership enabled 20,000 outpatient visits, treatment of 1,200 traumas, 1,400 major surgeries and 1,700 intensive care and inpatient admissions supporting injured combatants.
