Chitra, Panama -- Maj. Darrell S. Grise, an Optometrist deployed to Medical Readiness Training Exercise (MEDRETE) Panama from the 96th Aerospace Medicine Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., uses a slit-lamp to look for cataracts and assess the health of the front of a patient's eye here at a school in Santa Maria, Panama 18 July. The MEDRETE is a two-week long U.S. Southern Command sponsored exercise designed to hone the skills of medical personnel while providing free health care in remote locations through partnership with host nation doctors. Bruce McClintock, 96th Air Base Wing commander, shakes hands with Airman 1st Class Analissa Anguiano, at the 96th Security Forces Squadron Saturday before she and five other security forces personnel leave base for deployment. All six Airmen volunteered to serve a year on a military police squad that will train Iraqi districts outside the wire. They will first attend an advanced training course in their career field at Ft.
