Fluidity

Ryan Schweitzer, works through a technique during Kuk Sool Won class at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Schweitzer, son of Master Sgt. Kevin Schweitzer, 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron, earned his black belt in June. The 12-year-old has been training for four years. Kuk Sool Won encompasses many different "styles" of traditional martial arts. It combines kicking, punching, throwing, falling, and joint-locking as well as a myriad of weapons techniques into a dynamic 'hard-soft' style, emphasizing speed and fluidity. Just breathe

Airman 1st Class DeMichael Overstreet, 96th Civil Engineer Squadron, dons a respirator mask before moving to put out a simulated engine fire during Nuclear Accident Response Exercise Aug. 11 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. This exercise assessed the ability of base personnel to support a request from Department of Energy “Safe Haven” and react to an emergency response to a major accident. In the scenario, while securing the vehicles from a DoE convoy on base, the DoE truck experienced an engine fire and two DoE personnel suffered severe burns while trying to extinguish the fire. Recovery road

Maj. David Garay, Air Armament Center executive officer, survived a 50-foot fall during a hike while he was a cadet at the Air Force Academy. Although bones were broken in his face, he tried to climb down to get help.
