Bear roams neighborhood

Florida Black Bears like this one, found in the base housing area, are commonly seen on and around Eglin. While no documented attacks on humans ever occurred in the state of Florida, they are a large, wild animal that should not be provoked. If you do encounter a bear, use the following safety tips: remain standing upright, avoid direct eye contact, back up slowly, speak in a calm, assertive tone, make sure the bear has an escape route and do not run from the bear. "Tweets" spark OPSEC awareness

Twitter, an online microblogging service, has caught the attention of operations security personnel here and Air Force wide. Unlike other social networking services, Twitter allows users to send 140-character posts called "tweets" through almost any device, to include mobile phones, which are distributed to other network users. EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – Thai dancers perform during the Asian Pacific American Heritage Luncheon May 26, at the enlisted club. The luncheon provided the opportunity to witness some of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. Dance was used as an expressive form of communication in countries where except through dance, men and women were prohibited from engaging one another. Dances included the Kakawati Dance—Filipino folk dance, using Madre de Cacao Flowers; various Thai dances, including a Thai Bamboo Dance. The event also hosted a Kuk Sool Won martial arts demo and even a fashion show. Taste of Asia

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Ciara Berezo, 796 Civil Engineer Squadron, indulges in some Asian rice noodles at the Taste of Asia event at the Weekly Pond Pavilion May 20. The event was in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and provided the opportunity for attendees to experience authentic Asian cuisine.
