Eglin celebrates Earth Day

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Capt. Andrew Norton, Air Armament Center assistant staff judge advocate, passes the finish line during the Earth Day 5k Fun Run/Walk event at Foster Stadium April 17. Captain Norton was the first man to pass the finish line, winning a $25 Army and Air Force Exchange Service gift certificate. Capt. Elementary students tour Eglin's Recycling Center

Waste Warriors

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Personnel from Eglin's Environmental Management Division sponsored a clean-up event Wednesday where approximately 20 volunteers braved aggressive mosquitoes and swampy conditions to clean up a waste site on the Eglin reservation. In three hours, using their hands, rakes and vehicles, the volunteers pulled 15,000 pounds of trash, 204 tires and 400 pounds of scrap metal out of the Eglin forest. -- Photo by Jerron Barnett
