David Harris, the Air Armament Center vice commander, enjoy ice cream cones following an awards ceremony at the Volunteer Appreciation Ice Cream Social April 5 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Along with McShane, the other recipients were Amy Burgess, 33rd Maintenance Squadron; Ricki McWilliams, 96th Force Support Squadron; and Nancy Gerig, a Family Services Center volunteer. Team Eglin Safety hosts its 5th Annual Motorcycle Safety Rally April 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the 1st Special Operations Maintenance Squadron Hanger, Bldg. 244 adjacent to the Eglin Climatic Laboratory on Eglin Blvd. The event will consists of: Blessing of the bikes, best bike competition, guest speakers, Grant's gauntlet ride, group rides, motorcycle display/demo’s, aircraft static display and door prizes. AFRL’s newest facility
Dr. John Wilcox, Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate director, and Dr. David Lambert, a senior mechanical engineer at the AFRL Munitions Directorate damage mechanical branch, give an overview of the new High Pressure Particulate Physics Facility at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., Feb. 6. The facility was built to enhance the role of science and technology in smart munitions development. It contains a 60-mm smooth bore gun, complemented with high-resolution, high-precision, time-resolved diagnostics for use with various imaging technologies. The gun will be able to launch a few kilogram mass at high speed and will address basic questions on material behavior, as it relates to munition weapon systems and weapon effects. (Courtesy photo)
