EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The Defense Equal Opportunity Climate Survey is underway now through Nov. 30.  The survey is designed to enhance unit awareness and sustainability. This initiative assesses organizational climate and equal opportunity, and serves as a critical tool for driving positive change within military ranks.

By incorporating questions about positive unit awareness and sustainability practices into DEOCS assessments, military leaders can identify and promote actions that foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and environmental responsibility. These measures include promoting diversity, implementing community outreach initiatives, and enhancing teamwork and camaraderie.

“Participation in a DEOCS is an individual’s way to provide anonymous feedback to unit leadership on issues, and areas of concern,” said Lindsey Sharpe, 96th Test Wing Integrated Prevention and Resiliency Office chief.

Sharpe said survey participation provides awareness of best practices, instances where the standard is exceeded and overall thoughts on unit wellness.

Each DEOCS is read by numerous support agencies, in addition to unit leadership, for the opportunity to collaborate in expanding on the inclusiveness, support and trust within units and groups across the installation, according to Sharpe.

Additionally, DEOCS enables units to highlight their commitment to sustainability.  Efforts such as reducing racial harassment, improving leadership engagement, and promoting high morale are critical to building a sustainable military community.

Members will receive an e-mail from the Office of People Analytics Defense Climate Portal informing them when their unit’s DEOCS survey is available.
