Temporary healthcare enrollment options now available

Eglin Hospital is temporarily offering families of active duty service members and retirees the option of enrolling to a TRICARE-authorized healthcare provider.

Currently, the primary care clinics are unable to consistently meet the demands of its local population in a timely manner. This is due to multiple hospital staff deployments and permanent changes of station during the summer months, according to Col. Pamela Smith, 96th Medical Group commander.

“The temporary option is being offered to ensure that healthcare is accessible when needed,” said Smith. “We are privileged to serve as the medical home for our Eglin families and will continue to provide them with the best trusted care possible.”

To ensure patients receive care without delays, this enrollment option is now available to spouses, children, retirees and family members. Those interested can contact Humana at 1-800-444-5445 and request a provider in their area.

Active duty families will not be subject to co-pays by choosing this option. However, retirees and their family members can visit the TRICARE website regarding co-pay costs before choosing this option.

If at any time members are not satisfied with their civilian provider, they may re-enroll to the Eglin Hospital, according to Smith.

“The men and women of the 96th MDG strive to provide the highest quality of care to all we serve while supporting our many deployed and home-station missions,” said Smith.
