Space Surveillance Telescope (SST)
The 232-ton Space Surveillance Telescope (SST) was relocated from White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, to Australia in 2017, becoming a part of the global Space Surveillance Network (SSN) that provides space domain awareness for the United States, Australia, and their key allies. The combined effort developed Australia’s space domain awareness capabilities, while the strategic location of the telescope in Australia provides unique space domain awareness coverage in the Indo-Pacific Command region.
