EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Welcome to the monthly mission report for the Air Force SEEK EAGLE Office. These are the tasks Airmen and civilians progressed on in February.
Flight clearance for B61-12 developmental test on the F-16
The SEEK EAGLE office cleared the way to begin the first developmental test for the B61-12 bomb program on an F-16. The B61-12 project is part of the B61 life extension program. SEEK EAGLE supported the B61-12 tail kit, system program office, the AF Nuclear Weapons Center, and Sandia National Labs during this multi-year development process. The test mission will commence in March at Nellis AFB, Nev.
Increased carriage G for MK-82 on the F-15E
This certification effort will support the F-15E training squadron’s need for greater G loads during dive bomb recovery maneuvers and reduce the occurrence of the aircraft needing to return-to-base due to increased G maneuvers. This will greatly reduce the post-flight inspection burden on maintenance.
Engineering effort for the Joint Air-to Surface Standoff Missile for bomber aircraft.
This project will update technical orders for B-1B, B-2A, and B-52H to account for several modifications to the JASSM variants over the past several years.
Clearance for Reconfigurable Airborne, Sensor, Communications, and Laser (RASCAL-7) Pod on the T-38C.
AFSEO cleared the RASCAL-7 Pod for carriage on the T-38C. This also defined the conditions when modifications can be made without the need for further engineering support. This will provide more flexibility to future AF Institute of Technology and test pilot school flight test projects.
Flight clearance for LITENING Digital Port variant on the A-10
AFSEO approved for flight testing a new upgrade to the latest LITENING variant. The software provides a digital video display in the A-10 cockpit. The A-10 currently can only display analog video. The new display resolution is a considerable improvement for the warfighter.
Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System flight clearance.
AFSEO issued a recommended flight clearance to support control test vehicle shots. Developmental testing will occur here and operational testing will be performed by the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center at Nellis.
