EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The 96th Test Wing conducted a chemical, biological, nuclear response exercise Feb. 22 here as part of a larger week-long, base-wide exercise.
The emergency response units reacted to a suspicious package call by arriving at the location and setting a perimeter. The units executed their checklists and procedures when faced with each particular situation.
The test wing's explosive ordnance disposal unit sent in their robot to get a better view of the package and test for hazardous material. Eventually, an EOD technician simulated destroying the package through detonation.
Finally, the emergency management and the bioenvironmental flight donned protective suits to exercise procedures used when unknown hazardous materials are discovered.
