The newly named Premier Fitness Laboratory, is now open exclusively for group exercise, fitness improvement training, spin classes, and personal training.

The Lab, previously known as the Fitness Annex, will no longer be available for general recreation.

“Our objective is to serve our customers,” said Tony Jadin, 96 FSS, manager of fitness and sports. “We pride ourselves on that and trying to be the best fitness center in the Air Force.”

These changes provide additional room at the main fitness center and resolve manpower limitations for the 96th Force Support Squadron. The main fitness center users will notice more room in the free weight area.

“By moving the spin bikes out of the main fitness center to the Premier Fitness Laboratory, it freed up a large room that was only used three times a day,” said Jadin. “This had a domino effect, it allowed us to move 23 selectorized machines out of the free weight area, giving them more elbow room.”

Eglin’s fitness staff allocation is based solely on the main fitness center alone. However, fitness personnel currently staff the main fitness center, the new Lab, field house, and the Lightning Fitness Center.

“The biggest reason for this change is because over the last few years our military manning has been spread thin,” said Jadin. “These changes had to occur and this was the best way to serve our customers."

Fitness patrons accustomed to working out at the Lab are encouraged to visit the main fitness center's cardio room or the field house near the East Gate.

Squadrons interested in setting up group physical fitness sessions at the Lab can contact the main fitness center for availability. For a list of hours of operation and a schedule of group exercise and spin classes visit: www.eglinlife.com.
