EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Welcome to the monthly mission report for the 96th Operations Group. These are the tasks Airmen and civilians are progressing on inside the squadrons and units within the group.
40th Flight Test Squadron
Coalition Air Refueling
The 40th FTS pilots flew the A-10C to help test the Royal Australian Air Force’s KC-130. Seven of nine sorties were completed using Air Combat Command and Air Force Reserve Command-owned aircraft.
Sniper Pod software testing
Squadron Airmen participated in Sniper Pod flight testing in an F-16. The testing consisted of two 15-mile combat lasing runs at ground targets.
LITENING and AIM 9
Squadron personnel provided flight testing of a LITENING pod and AIM-9X using F-15 aircraft. The testing explored the pod and missiles load capabilities at different airspeeds.
F-22 support
The squadron’s F-15s were used as support aircraft for F-22 testing occurring on the Eglin Testing and Training Complex.
780th Test Squadron
Hellfire
The squadron provided support for Hellfire missile quality verification testing from Apache helicopters here. The live shots were to examine new missile components.
