A local union chapter president partnered with base leadership to mutually enhance employee relations pertaining to the installation’s master labor agreement.

Rocky Tasse, American Federation of Government Employees Local 1942, provides training opportunities to supervisors on employee evaluations. Training topics include establishing baselines for evaluating employees, when and how often feedbacks are required, and recognizing performance.

“As with any process, there are always lessons to be learned, and my focus is to help make this as smooth of a process as possible for both supervisors and employees,” said Tasse.

Tasse’s AFGE chapter represents professional civilian bargaining unit employees of Eglin, Hurlburt and Duke Fields, and Arnold Air Force Base. These non-supervisory employees require a college degree to qualify for hiring.

Eglin’s second union, AFGE Local 1897, represents bargaining unit employees in career fields involving manual labor such as maintenance, driving, and construction. The chapter is presided by Thaddeus Wallace.

Both chapters offer members job counseling, career advancement advice, legislative advocacy, management intervention, technical expertise and informational services. As a whole, AFGE represents more than 700,000 federal and government workers nationwide and overseas.

“I’m here to not only be an advocate for those I represent, but to help employers be knowledgeable on how to improve and maintain a quality working environment for their staff,” said Tasse.
