FROM THE COMMANDER: COVID-19 update 2

As our nation is increasingly affected by COVID 19, I want to update you on some of the measures we're taking to safeguard our personnel and families, while continuing to execute the mission.

First and foremost, personal preventative measures continue to be essential to limiting the transmission of the virus. I'm also ordering strict hygiene for common use facilities, such as gyms and dining facilities.

As many of you have seen, there are also DoD travel restrictions now in place, and further guidance on Component-specific restrictions is forthcoming.

Finally, I am mirroring the guidance of many states by limiting gatherings of 250 or more people. Organizers of large, public events should coordinate with Eglin Public Health and mitigate risks appropriately.

The 96th Medical Group, in close coordination with the Florida Department of Health and the CDC, has screened several individuals from Team Eglin, mostly out of an abundance of caution. All of those cases to date have returned negative.

We have also established and tested procedures for intake, examination, isolation, and care for patients with COVID symptoms. As you may have seen, we've also implemented screening and other measures at the Eglin Hospital to protect beneficiaries and staff, and I appreciate your patience with the additional precautions.

Going forward, I will prioritize safety of our personnel and families as we continue to execute our missions, and I will keep you informed as the situation changes. I consider our actions to date as successful preparation for and handling of COVID exposures.

I ask for your continued care for yourselves, your families, your neighbors, and your co-workers, and with this sense of care, we can continue to succeed and minimize the impacts of COVID 19 on our Team Eglin community.

Finally, I am communicating with all of the Team Eglin leadership daily as the situation changes. If you have questions or concerns, your unit leadership is well informed. If you have questions about your health, please call or secure message your care provider.
