Team Eglin’s eligible customers can now pick up medications via ScriptCenter, a new self-service prescription refill vending machine, located in the Base Exchange here.  It acts as an alternate refill pick-up location to the Satellite Pharmacy.

The stand-alone medication locker system securely holds approximately 500 non-controlled, non-refrigerated prescriptions.  Approximately 16% of the pharamacy’s 30,000 monthly prescriptions are available at the ScriptCenter.

Lt. Col. Liana Vogel, 96th Medical Support Squadron commander, said the ScriptCenter decreases pharmacy staff and patient interaction, essential in the COVID-19 social distancing environment.

“The ScriptCenter minimizes time away from workplaces and eliminates wait times at the Satellite Pharmacy drive-thru, which is vital to mission readiness and success,” said Vogel, who helped put ScripCenters at other bases during her career.  “As a self-service, on-demand platform, the ScriptCenter allows Team Eglin members and other customers to go on with their daily lives faster.”

Only medication refills can be dispensed through the machine.  New prescriptions, controlled substances and refrigerated items must be picked up at the Satellite Pharmacy.  Pharmacy staff stock and replenish the ScriptCenter as required.

Visitors can order their medications at the kiosk by filling in the prescription refill line and choosing “ScriptCenter kiosk” as their pick-up location.

Next, they select “Enroll.”  A current prescription number, to include alpha characters, is required to complete enrollment.  Finally, they review the prescription for pick-up, sign for it and complete their transaction.

Vogel and the 96th Medical Group teamed with 96th Mission Support Group leadership and the Army and Air Force Exchange Service to bring the ScriptCenter here.
