A loggerhead sea turtle nest sits at the foot of the dunes on the Santa Rosa Island range Aug. 7 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. Loggerhead sea turtles are on the threatened species list. They nest on Northwest Florida shores every other year and lay an average of 120 eggs according to Jackson Guard biologists. The nesting and hatching period occurs from May to October.
