Eglin personnel to remain in place, weather leave authorized

  • Published

The installation commander directed all Eglin non-mission essential personnel to remain in place until they are instructed to return to duty due to conditions caused by Hurricane Sally.

Weather Safety Leave is authorized for mission essential and non-mission essential personnel to include those on telework status. This action is necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of Team Eglin employees and due to impacts to power, home, property and internet caused by the hurricane’s high winds and rising water.

Damage assessments will begin around 8 a.m. Sept. 17.  Only personnel directly involved in damage assessment and initial recovery operations will report for duty at that time.

The time for all personnel to return to duty will be no earlier than noon Sept. 17.  This time is dependent on local conditions and damage assessments. Supervisors are authorized to delay this start time for their personnel impacted by the storm and use of WSL for those individuals will be authorized.

Eglin personnel should continue to monitor local weather forecasts, the National Hurricane Center updates, the Eglin website, and the Facebook page.
