Flu vaccines now available

The 96th Medical Group began its influenza vaccine campaign this week.

The mandatory active duty vaccine line began Oct. 25 and lasts through Friday Oct. 29 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Enlisted Heritage Hall. Anyone who is unable to attend the pod at the EHH can get the vaccine by walk-in appointments at the Eglin hospital Immunization Clinic.

All Department of Defense beneficiaries may get their flu shot at the immunization clinic on Monday through Friday from 7:15 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. daily with the following exceptions:

Noon to 1 p.m. due to a daily closure for lunch. Patients checked in by 11:30 a.m. will be seen.

The immunization clinic is closed the first Wednesday of each month for training until 1 p.m.

FluLaval quadrivalent is the name of the vaccine. Information on FluLaval can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/quadrivalent.htm

Seniors 65 and older may request the Fluad vaccine. Information on this product can be found here: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/prevent/adjuvant.htm

For DOD civilian employees the flu shot is available at retail pharmacies without cost or copays as a benefit of the Federal Employee Health Benefit program.
