Medical Group tips to stop the spread

  • Published

With the spread of the new COVID-19 variant, the 96th Medical Group created a list of ways to take care of patient medical needs without them having to physically come in to the hospital.

The goal of using these available services is to minimize infection risk.

Here are the tips patients can use:

Telephone Secure Messaging options:  Go to the TRICARE Online website and after logging in, quickly and securely send and receive messages with a primary care provider team.

TRICARE Nurse Advice Line available 24/7 for medical advice.  Simply call 1-800-TRICARE (1-800-874-2273) and select option 1

TRICARE Online Appointment scheduling tool for appointments or call (850) 883-8600.

Prescriptions:  TRICARE offers prescriptions by mail.  There is a small required co-pay for this service, but the co-pay is less than co-pays at civilian pharmacies. The prescription is up-to a 90-day supply of medications with free shipping.  If interested, please visit the TRICARE Express Scripts website or call 1-877-363-1303.

Go to the emergency room for medical emergencies, such as severe difficulty breathing.  If calling 911, notify the dispatcher of symptoms and COVID-19 exposure concerns.

Do not visit the emergency room for non-medical emergency COVID-19 testing, or for routine medical concerns that may be addressed over the phone or through secure messaging.

To be tested for COVID-19, please contact a provider.  If no symptoms or not imminently deploying (i.e. possible close contact, traveling or returning from personal travel, curiosity, etc.), please utilize off-base testing options to include network, or over the counter resources.

For a list of off-base testing, go to the link.  At home self-test kits are also available at major retail stores and pharmacies.  For more information about at home self-test kits, follow the link.
