Eglin celebrates Women’s History Month

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- March is National Women’s History Month.  This year’s theme is "Celebrating Women Who Share Our Stories."

According to the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, Women’s History Month is a celebration of women's contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in the month of March in the United States since 1987.

This year’s theme recognizes women who have devoted their lives in telling stories through all forms of media and which have given a voice to those from all walks of life.

Eglin celebrates Women’s History Month with the following events.  Anyone with base access can attend.  For more information, call 882-5440.

  • Teaching the Youth – Youth Center, March 15, 16, 23, 3:45 p.m.
  • Zumba Night – Fitness Center, March 15, 5 p.m.  $5 per person.
  • Painting at Lunch – Bayview Club, March 25, noon.  Maximum of 20 participants.
  • Closing Event – Hangar 310, March 31, 2 to 4 p.m.
