EXERCISE: HURRICANE CONDITION ONE DECLARED

Hurricane Condition One has been declared here by the 96th Air Base Wing commander as of 3:33 p.m. today because of the threat of Hurricane Carolina.

Hurricane Condition One means destructive winds of 58 MPH or greater are possible within 12 hours.

Personnel will remain in shelters until released by the Eglin battle staff. People in base housing should seek shelter in an interior room if they have not gone to a shelter and remain in place until further notice. All facilities and services have been shut down.

Eglin officials also remind people to monitor television or radio broadcasts for the National Hurricane Center's latest forecast.
