Seven Eglin members receive Articles 15 Published March 7, 2011 Air Armament Center Legal Office EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- In February, there were seven Articles 15 offered on base. Nonjudicial punishment under Article 15, Uniform Code of Military Justice provides commanders with an essential and prompt means of maintaining good order and discipline and also promotes positive behavior changes in member's service without the stigma of a court-martial conviction. Acceptance of an Article 15 is not an admission of guilt but a choice of forum, however, it can be the final disciplinary action triggering initiation of an administrative discharge. In the month of February, there were seven Article 15s completed here. · An Airman assigned to 96 Medical Support Squadron received a reduction to airman basic, 30 days extra duty and a reprimand for driving with a suspended license. · An airman basic assigned to 46th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron received 14 days extra duty and a reprimand for failing to go to work and making a false official statement. · A senior airman assigned to 96th Security Forces Squadron received a reduction to airman basic and a reprimand for selling government property of a value of more than $500. · An airman 1st class assigned to 1st Special OperationsMaintenance Squadron received a reduction to Airman and a reprimand for smoking spice and failing to maintain dorm room standards. · A staff sergeant assigned to 96th Force Support Squadron received a reduction to senior airman and a reprimand for misuse of the government travel card. · A master sergeant assigned to 728th Air Control Squadron received a suspended reduction to technical sergeant and a reprimand for dereliction of duty and disorderly conduct. · A senior airman assigned to 1st SOMXS received a reduction to airman 1st class and a reprimand for failing to go to work and misuse of the GTC.
