2nd Lt. Kevin Rosser of the High Explosive Research Development facility may be a researcher by day; but when his duty day ends, he unleashes his inner outside midfielder. Soccer that is.

On Nov. 4, the Armed Forces men's soccer team member boarded a plane to head to Suriname, a South American country north of Brazil, with his fellow teammates to compete in the International Championship within the International Military Sports Council. The team members were chosen based on their performance in the Armed Forces Men's Soccer Championship tournament played at Hurlburt Field at the end of October.

"I feel very lucky to be selected. It is an honor to represent the U.S. Armed Forces in such a big way," the Lieutenant who's played soccer since age 5, said.

While at the two- week tournament, the team will face tough opponents including teams from Ecuador, Barbados and reigning South American champions, Brazil. But with his pre-game song, "Right Above It," by Lil' Wayne playing in the background, Rosser exudes confidence in his team's strength and chemistry.

"We play very well as a team. We've won our last four games. I expect us to at least advance to the semi-finals."

Originally from San Jose, Calif., the young airman hopes his family and girlfriend, who are his biggest supporters, will be able to follow the games on the internet.

"I feel very fortunate to have this opportunity and hope to make everyone proud," Rosser said.

The tournament will be held Nov. 5-15th.
