Register to vote during Absentee Voting Week Published Sept. 24, 2010 By Kevin Gaddie Team Eglin Public Affairs EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Absentee Voters Week, which takes place Sept. 27 - Oct. 1, is designated by the Secretary of Defense for active-duty members and their voting age dependents to register to vote. A voting booth will be set up in the base exchange from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., between Sept. 27 and Oct. 1. Personnel will be on hand to assist patrons in registering to vote, or with voting using an absentee ballot. "It's a civic and patriotic responsibility," said David Meyer, Eglin's Installation Voting Action Officer. "I think they can make a difference in all elections." During the week, unit voting representatives may conduct events within their units, like commander's call briefings, information booths, and distributing voting-related materials, according to Mr. Meyer.
