Preparations are currently under way to recognize Air Force Materiel Command's top enlisted Airmen during the command's 2010 Annual Enlisted Awards Banquet slated this year for April 22 at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla.

The theme for this year's banquet is 'Honoring Excellence, Celebrating Family,' one chosen to highlight the Air Force's designation of the Year of the Air Force Family. The banquet will be held at the Eglin Officers Club from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

"Our annual awards banquet gives us the chance to showcase the amazing talent within our command," said Chief Master Sgt. Eric Jaren, AFMC command chief. "We appreciate the great things our Airmen do each and every day, and we'll pause to honor the outstanding contributions of our Airmen and celebrate the unwavering commitment of their families."

Forty-six nominees from throughout AFMC's headquarters, centers and specialized units have been nominated to compete in four separate categories -- Airman, non-commissioned officer, senior NCO and first sergeant.

Winners in each category will advance to compete in the United States Air Force Twelve Outstanding Airmen of the Year and First Sergeant of the Year competitions held later this year.
