The base education center hosts its annual education fair, April 1, at the Base Exchange here.

The event will be a forum for anyone with base access to come by and get information about continuing education, according to Dr. Faith Womack, Education Services officer at Eglin.

"We expect it to be bigger and better than last year because we are holding it at the [Base Exchange] entrance and we will host a wider variety of colleges."

Up to 18 different colleges (see below) will have information booths set up to assist attendees. As an added bonus, the vendors have donated door prizes to be given out during the event.

"We want to encourage anyone who is thinking about pursuing their academic goals to find answers to their questions," said Dr. Womack.

According to Dr. Womack, the event could be useful to anyone wondering what school they might like to attend, what courses they might need or want and what resources are available to military, government employees, family members, or teenagers thinking of going to college.

Area colleges offer broad programs, such as education, and engineering and information technology, to specialized programs like maritime studies, digital media/multimedia technology and professional aeronautics.

"With today's tough times, many people are looking to improve their profile and this event allows them to see the opportunities available," said Dr. Womack. "Without education, you're not going to get to those higher levels."

The education fair is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to anyone with access to the base.
