The 96th Security Forces Squadron hosts a four-week Citizens Police Academy for members of the Eglin community April 6.

The purpose of the hour-long classes is for community members to gain a wide range of knowledge of the many different services Security Forces provides other than writing tickets, according to Senior Airman Christopher Smith, 96th Security Forces Squadron and project coordinator.

The classes will cover a K-9 demonstration, weapons breakdown and assembly, taser demo, radar demo and DUI identification procedures.

"This program is significant due to effect attendees can have in their own community with the knowledge gained from the Community Policing and Crime Prevention aspects that will be covered," said Airman Smith.

Classes are held every Tuesday beginning April 6 at 6 p.m. at Bldg 229. Maximum participation is 25 students.
