Proven: less = more.

That was the energy goal for Eglin's Energy Management Center's "How low can you go" campaign to discover how much the base could conserve during the February three-day weekend.

Now the results are in and the base saved more than 90,000 kilowatts based on the same usage from 2009. That was almost $11,000 in savings.

Word of the campaign was spread via emails, computer pop-ups, base marquee, the official bulletin and base newspapers, according to the EEMC.

"The energy reduction is even more significant considering we averaged 15 degrees lower temperatures to last year," said Bob Grimm, EEMC. "This is just the first of many energy saving campaigns planned for Eglin, so be sure to make energy a consideration in all you do."
