The 96th Force Support Squadron will be vying for back-to-back awards this year as the Air Force Hennessy team visits Eglin for an evaluation Feb. 17-19.

Eglin won the John L. Hennessy for Best Food Service Operation in the Air Force last year in the multiple facility category.

The Hennessy team will evaluate The Breeze dining facility and The Tradewinds flight kitchen in five key areas: Kitchen Operations, Serving and Dining Operations, Training Personnel and Readiness, Sanitation and Repair Maintenance and Management.

Members from the 96 FSS couldn't be more excited about the competition.

"Our people are ready," Lt. Col. Sean Harrington, 96 FSS commander said. "We were the best in the Air Force last year, we're the best in AFMC this year and we're not planning to give up the trophy any time soon."

FSS recently won the 2010 Air Force Materiel Command "Gold Plate" award for the Best Food Service in AFMC and Dave Mickler was named AFMC manager of the year.

Mr. Mickler gives all the credit, however, to his food service staff.

"The Airmen, civilians and contractors who work in Food Services have been our true champions," he said. "I'm proud of each and every one of them. I'm excited they get the opportunity to show off their hard work and dedication."

"We didn't get to this point by chance," Master Sgt. Joseph Newton. "We offer the best dining experience in the Air Force. Period."
