Eglin declares HURCON 2

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. --  Hurricane Condition Two was declared by the 96th Air Base Wing Commander today at 7:30 a.m. due to the current projected path from Hurricane Ida. 

Hurricane Condition Two means destructive winds of 58 m.p.h. or greater are possible within 24 hours. Hurricane Ida is currently expected to be a Category One storm. 

All non-mission critical personnel are released at 5:30 p.m. today unless notified by their supervisors. No base delivered will be accepted after 5:30 p.m. today. The Base Exchange and Shoppettes will close at 7:30 p.m. today. The Commissary will close at 6:30 p.m. today. The base will be closed Tuesday, Nov. 10. 

Eglin officials also remind people to monitor television or radio broadcasts for the National Hurricane Center's latest forecast. Information is also posted at www.eglin.af.mil.
