Airmen living in the dorms here had the opportunity to meet and discuss quality-of-life issues with the highest ranking official on base Aug. 25.

Maj. Gen. Charles Davis, Air Armament Center commander and program executive officer for weapons, took a tour of the dorms and met the Dorm of the Quarter winners. He toured five dorms and met with Airmen from various units across Team Eglin.

"This is the best part of the job, even better than flying F-15's" said the general. "Getting the opportunity to make sure our young Airmen are taken care of is important because they are our future Air Force leaders."

The general's tour not only oriented him with the quality of life for the residents living there, it also gave the Airmen with award-winning rooms the opportunity to showcase their hard work.

"It's nice to get recognition for the small things like keeping your room clean," said Airman 1st Class Patricia Mead, 728th Air Control Squadron. "Recognition shouldn't be your motivation; but when you're putting forth that extra effort, it certainly makes it worth it."

The tour was followed by a luncheon at the Breeze where the Airmen dined with the General and had a chance to chat informally with him. They talked about dorm initiatives, financial decision making and prime locations to find an apartment.

"It was just a good experience," said Airman 1st Class Rachel Moore, 96th Dental Squadron. "It's motivating for us Airmen to be able to talk to someone of that caliber and get positive feedback."
