Col. Michael Brewer accepted the helm of the wing from Maj. Gen. Charles Davis, program executive officer for weapons and Air Armament Center commander, during the ceremony. Colonel Brewer and his family arrived at Eglin after his assignment as vice commander of the Air Force Flight Test Center, Det. 3, Edwards AFB, Calif. He received his commission in 1986 after graduating from N.C. State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. After pilot training he flew the F-111F and F-15E before attending USAF Test Pilot School in 1996, he was assigned to the 445th Flight Test Squadron as an F-15 experimental test pilot, He also served at the F-22 system program office as a test program manager. During the ceremony, General Davis talked about Colonel Brewer's qualifications leading to his selection as the commander of the 46th TW. "There were probably 20 others qualified for this job," General Davis said. "But only one truly stands above the rest to command this wing." General Davis knows Colonel Brewer has the ability to lead the wing through the upcoming times. "Now is the most challenging period in the history of this wing," General Davis said. "Missions are expanding and range space is getting tighter." Colonel Brewer knows he has some big shoes to fill. When he was in an operational fighter wing he saw firsthand the importance of the 46th TW's mission and didn't hesitate to tell wing members just that. "You have a job that matters. My unit attacked more than 2,200 targets successfully because they had the best tested weapons," he said. "Those tested by the 46th Test Wing!"
