The first Director of National Intelligence will be the guest speaker at the next Rev Tech program June 17 at the Eglin Conference Center.

Ambassador John D. Negroponte, former Deputy Secretary of State, U.S. Representative to the United Nations will give a presentation titled "Intelligence and the Global War on Terror." The briefing is based on his assignments as the Director of National Intelligence and Principal Intelligence Advisor to President George W. Bush.  The briefing is at 10 a.m.

Rev Tech hosts a biannual seminar series to highlight the challenges and stimulate creativity in the acquisition community here.  These seminars are free and open to the public.  The Rev Tech program began as part of Air Force Research Laboratory's Munitions Directorate's concerted search for revolutionary technologies and led to the commission of the Revolutionary Technology Committee in 1998.

"Our research is not constrained to just traditional developments; we openly seek paradigm-shifting technologies for use in possible military engagements beyond 2020," said Col. Kirk Kloeppel, Director AFRL's Munitions Directorate here.

The ongoing program is a concerted effort to discover and foster high-risk, high-reward technologies that - if matured - may convey significant or "revolutionary" advantages to future war fighters.

"The Air Force's war-fighting dominance depends upon our superior people, training, information, and air armaments," Colonel Kloeppel said. "We maintain the edge in air armaments because of our fundamental and applied research on conventional air-delivered armaments."

Ambassador Negroponte is the latest in a long line of invited speakers who are invited to provide a glimpse into the future, keeping with the idea behind Rev Tech. Among the distinguished speakers that have participated in the seminar series are: Professor Lawrence Krauss, the author of The Physics of Star Trek; astrophysicist Jeanne Cavelos, the author of The Science of Star Wars; and Dr. Dennis Bushnell, the Chief Scientist of NASA, Langley.
