The Air Force Materiel Command's Wellness and Safety Campaign is the ongoing program that focuses on helping individuals develop a positive wellness attitude.

The AFMC Wellness Support Center Web site, www.afmcwellness.com, is for all Eglin active duty and appropriated-fund civilians and is one component of the WASC. The campaign encompasses all facets of wellness: physical, emotional, social and spiritual.

The Web site, also contains the "10,000 Steps a Day" and the "Flight Plan Incentive" programs that allow individuals to track progress as their fitness levels improve.

A important tool on the site is the Health Risk Appraisal questionnaire. The HRA asks questions about overall health, such as blood pressure, medical conditions, diet, and current activity level.

This real-time feedback is designed to increase your awareness and help you make decisions about your. It will direct you to resources and educational materials specific to your responses.

Your identity is anonymous and all information is confidential. Answers to your HRA are utilized in aggregate, in combination with other data, but your individual data is not used.

Completing your HRA will allow you to see areas where you want to make changes and give you a written game plan for better health. It can also be used as a framework for discussing lifestyle changes with your healthcare provider and, if you are a DoD civilian, you will also want to include information from your annual cholesterol screening.

Other tools on the site help to log your activities, blood pressure, or weight so that you can track your successes. Once you complete your HRA, print a "claim a pedometer" certificate from the home page, bring it to the HAWC and get a free pedometer.

Your HRA can help you feel motivated to set goals and start making healthy behavior changes to improve the quality of your life.
