A captain from 96th Communication Squadron was selected to represent the Air Force at an Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association chapter's 2nd Annual Armed Forces Leadership Award ceremony.

Capt. Stacie Rembold, infrastructure flight commander, was recently told she won the AFCEA D.C. chapter award that will be presented to her at their spring Leadership Awards Gala in June.

"I was very honored to hear that I won this leadership award, but I honestly have to say it was the people who work for me that won this award," the captain said. "I rely heavily on my senior NCOs and the top civilians in my flight to get the mission accomplished and they all do an amazing job. There is one thing for certain - I couldn't have been successful without them."

AFCEA, a non-profit association, focuses on promoting higher education in the sciences, mathematics, computer technology and engineering, according to their Website. The program recognizes a member from each branch of the military that has made a significant contribution to the warfighter through the use of information technology with special consideration given for decisive bravery.

The 96th CS recommended Captain Rembold for her own leadership style in her duty of commanding the largest communications flight in Air Force Materiel Command.

"Capt Rembold had a great year," said Lt. Col. Rob Lyman, 96th CS commander. "With a tough job at Eglin and while deployed she touched every aspect of Air Force warfighting this year; air, space, cyber and special operations, plus the unique test missions, and infantry and explosive ordnance training here at Eglin. We are extremely proud of her leadership, and she's led us to a great deal of unit success."

To fulfill her duties, Captain Rembold manages Eglin's alert system, land mobile radio system for the 724-square-mile test range, telephone network and radio maintenance. She also oversees communication needs for future infrastructure of the 7th Special Forces Group and Joint Strike Fighter training complex.

Additionally, last year the captain deployed to the Southwest Asia where she lead a 26-member joint team operating an $8 million mission network enabling the Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command Headquarters to accomplish distributed operations in their areas of responsibility.
