EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year’s theme is “Heal, Hold, Center.”
The annual observance raises awareness about how to report domestic abuse and encourages community members to speak up if they suspect abuse.
“Our mission is to promote prevention efforts through education, awareness campaigns, and outreach to equip Team Eglin with the tools to speak up and speak out against domestic violence,” said Candice Chaput, Integrated Prevention and Resiliency Office prevention specialist.
Abusive and unhealthy relationships are not limited to military members and their spouses. They can also include those who are dating, living together or have children in common. Resources, including safety plans, protection orders and emergency services that address medical, housing, legal and counseling needs, are available to help victims.
