Hugh Dubose Air Armament Center Judge Advocate Center EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- Tax volunteers are needed to ensure the Team Eglin Tax Center can provide free tax services to the Eglin military community. The tax center completes and e-files tax returns free of charge for all active duty military personnel, reservists, National Guard members, civil service employees, retired members and military dependents. Volunteering at the Team Eglin Tax Center is a great opportunity for you to provide a valuable service to the military community. Any active duty military member, reservist, National Guard member, civil service employee, retired member or military dependent with access to the base may be a tax volunteer. Tax center volunteers receive instruction and training, as well as all certification materials necessary to prepare tax returns. There are five 2-day classes available with the first training starting Jan. 5. Volunteers will be accepted through Jan. 13 for the last training class which will be conducted January 15 through 16. The tax center also needs volunteers to manage the reception desk. These volunteers are critical for the smooth operation of the tax center. This job requires no previous experience or formal training. Duties include making appointments, checking-in clients, and filing. Volunteers for this position will be accepted at any time. Tax center shifts are four hours long, once a week, starting Jan. 20 and ending April 15. Last year Team Eglin volunteers prepared nearly 3,000 returns saving our members nearly $500,000 in filing fees and $4.6 million in refunds.
